The local area;
Deal town has a variety of shops - apart from chain stores such as Sainsbury's, Co-op & Marks & Spencer there are a number of olde worlde shops in the conservation area of the town. There is a Saturday market which is good for vintage appreciators. We have a local general shop, pubs, bus services to Canterbury (15 miles), Sandwich (5 miles) and Dover (8 miles), plus high-speed train service to London (St Pancras International) from nearby Deal station. There is lovely scenery for walking and bike rides.
Canterbury is packed with history and heritage. The skyline is dominated by the stunning Cathedral which was founded in 597, the cathedral was completely rebuilt 1070-77. One of the most famous moments in the history of the Cathedral was the murder of Thomas Becket. Canterbury is not only packed with history, but is also full of vibrant restaurants, cafes, shops, bars, clubs and the popular Marlowe Theatre, which is a great way to spend the day!
Dover, Deal and Sandwich;
The White Cliff country is a stunning area of England where beautiful country side meets the world famous cliffs. The area is packed with things to do, including visiting castles (Deal Castle, Dover Castle and Walmer Castle and Gardens), vineyards and breweries, historical sites (including the Battle of Britain Memorial) and of course the stunning wildlife and scenery! There are a number of golf courses in the area including the Royal Cinque Ports (Deal) and Royal St George's (Sandwich)
For those wishing to travel further afield there are a number of historical sites to visit such as Down House (Charles Darwin) near Orpington, Lamb House (Henry James) in Rye and Leeds Castle near Maidstone.
There are also extensive shopping malls at Westwood Cross (Broadstairs), Ashford Designer outlet, and Bluewater and Lakeside near Dartford.
The quaint town of Whitstable famed throughout Kent and the UK for it’s oysters and fine eateries, this is a town well known for it’s culinary delights. Famous for its thriving arts community, it is one of the county’s most picturesque towns and has something to inspire and delight all tastes.
There are regular ferries from the Port of Dover to Calais and Ramsgate to Ostend. Eurotunnel is half an hour, and Kent International airport at Manston is 20 minutes away.

The Kings Head, Beach Street

Probably the most popular pub for it's location. On a sunny day you can view the wonderful scenery across the English Channel. They also serve tasty hot food all day.
Our town has recently acquired a J D Wetherspoon public house opening called The Sir Norman Wisdom (18-20 Queen Street, Deal CT14 6ET). This will be good for our town in terms of eating and drinking out at a manageable price.
36-38 West Street, Deal, CT14 6AH
This particular branch is always busy and there are good opening hours: 7am-10pm every day except Sundays (10-4). It's my favourite supermarket in Deal!
Recommended Seafront Cafe:-
Jasin's Restaurant Cafe/Bar, at the end of Deal Pier - is not only a stunning tourist attraction with magnificent views of the Deal, Dover and Sandwich Kent coast, but a great place where the whole family can sit and enjoy freshly prepared food beside the sea.
