The house, built at the turn of the last century, is a typical Maison d'Maitre, with large airy rooms, high ceilings and a grand central staircase.
Staying here is like stepping back in time to a much earlier era of servants and carriages.
We try to make our guests feel as welcome as possible and we are happy to advise on local markets, favourite beaches etc, and we usually have a supply of leaflets from the various tourist offices, these are a great source of information for days out.
This is served in the breakfast room on the ground floor and includes cereal, fresh breads, conserves, honey, fruit and yoghurt.
With this you have a choice of tea , coffee or hot chocolate.
All of our comfortable bedrooms are finished to a high standard, with plenty of clothes hanging space.

We can provide home cooked evening meals on request but must have at least 24 hours notice as we always cook with fresh ingredients. Please advise of any allergies or strong dislikeswhen booking.
We are situated in the main square of the village of Loulay, within easy reach of all that the Charente Maritime has to offer.
Locally we have activities such as swimming, tennis, fishing,horseriding, walking etc, and of course the churches and Garden of Roman Sculpture.
Most Saturday nights in high season you can listen to live music in the square.
The Atlantic coast is only 45 minutes away and you will be spoilt for choice of beach locations!
A visit to Historic La Rochelle is on most visitors lists. With its wonderful setting on the Atlantic it is a great place to spend a day.
Inland destinations such as Cognac and Saintes, both set on the River Charente, are close at hand, and closer still are the market towns of St Jean d'Angely and Surgeres.
There are also many Chateaux to visit and other places of historical interest,
the tourist office in Loulay, just a stroll from Chez Gaston,has lots of info available.

We are in Loulay,between the towns of Niort and St Jean D'Angely on the RN150.
On entering Loulay, turn left in front of the Credit Agricole bank into the main square. (Place du General de Gaulle).
